COLD CARE

Well, it’s that time of year again when it seems like everyone is catching a cold. Since it seems like most people deal with this at one point or another over fall and winter months, we thought we’d share our best cold care remedies and how you can safeguard your family against them and boost their immune system!

Make sure you are very consistent when you’re using your oils. That’s one of the most important things you can do. Always dilute essential oils for children or use the Touch roller bottles.




Keeping Your Immune System Strong on a Daily Basis



One of the best things you can do when it comes to colds, is keep your immune system strong in the first place. Here we share with you which oils you should be using daily no matter what. This will help keep your immune system strong and will help fight those colds if you come in contact with them.

FRANKINCENSE

Apply 2 drops directly under your tongue every morning or 2 drops to the bottom of your feet every morning. I recommend keeping your Frankincense next to your refrigerator or on your bathroom counter so you will remember to use it!

ON GUARD

Just like with your Frankincense, you want to use On Guard every morning to keep your immune system strong. Apply 2 drops to the bottoms of your fe,et each morning. The On Guard Touch roller is perfect for easy application and great for kids since it’s pre-diluted! (Remember, On Guard is a hot oil, so if you have sensitive skin or are using it on your kids, make sure to dilute it in Fractionated Coconut Oil).

BALANCE

Balance not only will keep keep your blood healthy and strong, but it’ll keep you calm and relaxed throughout the day. We know that stress can cause your immune system to function poorly, so it’s important (especially during holiday season) to keep your stress levels low. Apply 2 drops to the bottom of your feet each morning.

COPAIBA

Copaiba is definitely an oil you want to be using daily. It helps keep your immune system strong on a cellular level. You can either put 2 drops directly under your tongue or on the bottoms of your feet or you can now easily take the new Copaiba softgels!

STRONGER

For your little ones, especially babies, you can use the brand new Stronger blend on the bottoms of their feet and along the spine. The beauty of this blend is that it’s great for the immune system, but extremely gentle and pre-diluted.




Symptom Relief



FEVERS

If you or your little one has a fever, you can simply rub Peppermint, Lime, and/or Eucalyptus onto the forehead, back of the neck, and bottoms of the feet. Feel free to apply as much as every 15-30 minutes or at least every hour until fever goes down. Dilute for children or sensitive skin.

COUGH

For a soothe general coughing, you can suck on Breathe Respiratory Drops or use Eucalyptus, Breathe, Peppermint, Frankincense, Lemon, Rosemary

For a wet cough, mix a couple drops each Lime, Eucalyptus, Rosemary with a tablespoon of fractionated coconut oil and apply over the chest and the back. You can also apply this to the bottoms of the feet or put the essential oils into the diffuser (I recommend 4 drops each).

For a dry cough, mix a couple drops each Siberian Fir or White Fir, Frankincense, and Breathe with a tablespoon of fractionated coconut oil and apply over the chest and the back. You can also apply this to the bottoms of the feet or put the essential oils into the diffuser (I recommend 4 drops each).

For a barking cough at night, mix a couple drops each Breathe, Marjoram, Thyme, and Frankincense with a tablespoon of fractionated coconut oil and apply over the chest and the back. You can also apply this to the bottoms of the feet or put the essential oils into the diffuser (I recommend 4 drops each).

SINUS PRESSURE

There’s nothing worse than not being able to think because your head is pounding from sinus pressure. You can apply diluted DigestZen (the Touch version is great for is), diluted Breathe, or diluted Lime* to the sinuses and bridge of nose to help clear congestion.

*Please note that Ginger and Lime are photosensitive so do not apply to your face or skin less than 12 hours prior to sun exposure.

CONGESTION

To make the Steam Mug, combine 1-2 drops each Lemon, Melaleuca, Oregano, and Peppermint and 8oz. hot, steaming water. Inhale deeply through the sinuses and mouth to clear congestion. Make sure to keep your eyes closed the entire time! It is VERY intense and you will most likely will immediately begin coughing or sneezing.

Steam Mug Oil Variations: Rosemary, Eucalyptus, Thyme, Frankincense, Breathe, Lime

RUNNY NOSE & SNEEZING

For a runny nose or sneezing, use the TriEase blend of Lemon, Lavender, and Peppermint (1 drop each in a shot glass of water. Swish for 30 seconds & swallow).

You can also apply diluted Lime over the sinuses to help dry up mucus.

BODY ACHES & PAINS

For general aches & pains, use Deep Blue, Copaiba, Rescuer, Marjoram, and Frankincense topically over the area that is hurting. You can dilute for sensitive skin.

Take a soothing bath with 2 cups Epsom salts, 4 drops Deep Blue, and 4 drops AromaTouch.

FATIGUE

When your body is fighting off a bacteria or virus, it’ll usually happen with serious fatigue. Other than getting plenty of rest, try taking Mito2Max in the morning for an extra energy boost. It’s also important that you’re carrying on with your daily routine of supplements.

You can also add 3 drops each Frankincense, Peppermint, and Wild Orange to your diffuser for a mental and mood booster.

HEADACHES

For headaches, apply Peppermint or Peppermint Touch or PastTense to the temples, back of the neck and behind the ears for almost instant relief.

SORE THROAT

When you have a sore throat, you can suck on On Guard Protecting Throat Drops or make a soothing (somewhat spicy) tea with hot water, 1 tablespoon of raw honey, and 2 drops Lemon and 1 drop On Guard.

Another option is to gargle with warm water, salt, and 1 drop On Guard.




Other Natural Remedies & Healthy Practices

WATER & ELECTROLYTES



This is an obvious one, but it’s worth mentioning. If you’ve come down with a cold, you want to make sure you’re giving your body plenty of clear fluids and electrolytes. You can do this easily by drinking lots of water, coconut water, and hot tea. You can also get liquid or powdered electrolytes online or at your local drug or grocery store. You want to stay away from sugary, electrolyte-infused drinks like Gatorade and Pedalyte.




DETOX BATH



If you want to supercharge your immune system, take a bath a couple times of day with:

1-2 cup epsom salts

1/2 baking soda

5-8 drops of AromaTouch or your favorite essential oil (do not use HOT or citrus oils in the bath)




APPLE CIDER VINEGAR


ACV is one of the best natural remedies for detoxing and immune boosting and is great for tons of other things as well. You can take a tablespoon of ACV in each glass of water you drink with a drop of your favorite Citrus oil. Or you can make a hot “tea: of honey, ACV, and 2 drops Lemon. At the very least, drink some hot lemon water with ACV first thing in the morning to give your system a boost.
